Nina Kennedy and Bill Egan and Books.jpg

Author Bill Egan sits down with host Nina Kennedy to talk about his new book on African American Entertainers who performed in Australia and New Zealand before the onset of the Second World War. Performers including Florence Mills, Duke Ellington, and the Fisk Jubilee Singers are widely discussed, as well as pianist Leota Henson, whose papers were bequeathed to Nina’s grandmother. We hear performances by Duke Ellington’s Cotton Club Band, the Fisk Jubilee Quartet, and the Jubilee Singers.
